Nahal Habibi

Dr Nahal Habibi is a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Adelaide, and an EMCR council member of both the Robinson Research Institute (RRI) and Health in Preconception, Pregnancy, and Postpartum (HiPPP). Dr Habibi is a CI on an NHMRC Ideas Grant (GNT 2000905) and an AI on a Channel 7 Children's Research Foundation. The overarching aim of her research is to enhance health via lifestyle modifications such as dietary changes. Pregnancy complications, obesity, oxidative stress, and chronic disease are some areas her work focuses on. Due to her knowledge and skills as a dietitian, public health nutritionist, laboratory-based and epidemiological researcher, and lecturer, Nahal is involved in different multidisciplinary projects. Currently, Dr Habibi collaborates with a team of plant scientists on a dietary supplement to mitigate metabolic risk factors associated with the Western diet. Individuals often struggle to adjust their usual dietary intake. Therefore, supplements may be an alternative for improving a poor diet and reducing metabolic risks. The supplement that Nahal is currently investigating is produced from an Australian native sustainable plant with a high-quality nutrient profile.
