Jane Girling
Jane Girling is a Professor in the Department of Anatomy at the University of Otago |Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka, Aotearoa New Zealand. Jane completed her PhD at the University of Otago in 1998 before she spent nearly 20 years in Australia, latterly working at the University of Melbourne and the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne. After returning to Aotearoa. Jane co-founded the Menstrual Health Research Network and is now co-directing the establishment of the Centre for Menstrual Cycle Research.
Jane’s research team focusses on uterine biology, particularly as it relates to endometriosis and abnormal menstrual bleeding. She has interests in how menstrual pain and bleeding disorders affect individuals and their families, and in developing improved ways to provide information and resources that support wāhine and enhance quality of life.
